Mine Management Consultants, Inc. (MMC) is a full service mining engineering firm serving Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. We have years of experience with state and federal agencies. Many of our staff worked for mining operations prior to joining our team and therefore understand the problems the industry faces from firsthand experience. Our staff consists of licensed personnel in the fields of engineering, geology, and land surveying.

Surveying and Mapping
MMC has continued to invest in modern software, surveying equipment, and other state-of-the-art technologies to provide quality service to our clients. We utilize Autodesk Land Desktop, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Map 3D, & SurvCADD Software to create digital terrain models, detail drawings, mine maps site plans, etc. To supplement our CAD capabilities, MMC has purchased modern surveying equipment including reflectorless total stations and RTK Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
Permitting
MMC personnel have been preparing SMCRA permits since inception of the permanent program in 1977. We have prepared hundreds of applications for underground mining, surface mining, preparation plants, refuse areas, and underground injection operations. We have prepared individual and nationwide permits required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for placement of fill material in streams including stream relocation and mitigation plans. MMC provides construction inspection and design services for refuse impoundments, coarse refuse fills, combined fills, and underground injection operations. We have an MSHA approved impoundment inspection retraining program and provide our own nuclear density machines and instrumentation to measure water levels.
Property Management
MMC personnel have established large scale exploration, drilling, and sampling programs for evaluations, acquisitions, sales, and exchanges of coal properties. We have prepared reserve evaluations for coal properties exceeding sixty thousand acres. Our evaluations include the layout of potential underground and surface mining operations. We also provide land and mineral management services such as mine inspections and mine plan review.
